AKP Phnom Penh, August 13, 2018 —
Housing demand especially in downtown areas of Cambodia is estimated to be some 800,000 units between 2015 and 2030, or 50,000 units a year on average.
Secretary of State for Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction H.E. Pen Sophal shared the update recently with local media.
Urbanisation and rapid social economic growth was credited for the rise of housing demand in Cambodia.
Ministry’s records indicate that about 4.5 million Cambodians – 27.1 percent of the total population – settled down in the capital, cities and towns in 2014, and the figure would increase to nearly 8 million by 2030 – 44 percent of the total population.
